Exhibitions for 2014

The WCI Arts Center presents seven to eight exhibits annually that showcase the diverse talents of visual artists in the West Central Illinois region. Exhibits and opening receptions are free and open to the public.

  • A Few of Our Favorite Things: Treasures from Our Travels

This exhibition emphasizes artwork from individual collections. A person may loan one piece of original art for display from any of the normal media types (2-D, 3-D, photography, etc.). The piece must not be done by the contributor. A written narrative of 250 words or less must accompany the piece. The topic may cover the significance of the artwork, or a story about the piece, or why you like the piece. Also please include the Title / Artist / and Medium if known. Contact gallery@wciarts.org if you would like to include a piece in this exhibit.

July 22 – August 16, 2014

  • Narrative Photography: Happy Places of the Mind

All photographers are encouraged to share the ‘happy places of their mind’ which could be a person, place, or thing: whatever makes you happy. There is no entry fee for Members. A $15 hanging fee for Nonmembers is due upon delivery of the work. You may submit up to 4 pieces. A brief explanation of 100 words or less must accompany each piece to explain why it puts you in a happy state of mind. Please fill out the entry form online at our website www.wciarts.org.

August 19 – September 13, 2014

  • Members & Friends

This juried exhibit is open to all media types. Cash prizes will be awarded. You may submit up to 4 pieces. Please fill out the entry form online at our website www.wciarts.org. The entry fee of $15 for Members and $25 for Nonmembers is due upon delivery and acceptance of the work by the jury.

September 16 – October 17, 2014

  • Fibre Arts: An Exploration of the Fibre Pallette

Artists working in all forms of fibre art are encouraged to participate: knitting, felting, quilting, appliquéd fabric, etc. There is no entry fee for Members. A $15 hanging fee for Nonmembers is due upon delivery of the work. You may submit up to 2 large pieces and/or 4 small. Please fill out the entry form online at our website www.wciarts.org.

October 21 – November 22, 2014

  • Mammoth to Minuscule: A Focus on Scale

This exhibition is open to all media types which meet the following criteria. 2-D work must have an image size of either width + height = 144 inches or more / or an image size of width + height = 8 inches or less. 3-D work must have at least one dimension of 3 feet or more. There is no entry fee for Members. A $15 hanging fee for Nonmembers is due upon delivery of the work. You may submit up to 2 large pieces and/or 4 small.
